Republicans need to protect everyone

When I wrote to Sen. Marco Rubio, RFla., regarding abortion, he said: “I believe there is no human right more fundamental and more sacred than the right to life, and that every single human being is entitled to the protection of our laws.” Please, tell me how that corresponds to Rubio’s inability to fight for gun laws? Are the children killed at Sandy Hook or those killed in Las Vegas not also entitled to the protection of our laws? Are these lives not also sacred? I’m not opposed to gun ownership but am very opposed to bump stocks, auto- matic weapons and pop-up gun shows. Could there be a connection between Rubio’s actions and the fact that he’s the sixth largest recipient of donations from the National Rifle Association?

It’s not only the unborn who deserve our concern and protection. It’s all of us! Rita Sherr Delray Beach, Fla.
