Texans sign quarterback Johnson

The Houston Texans signed Josh Johnson, 31, who hasn’t appeared in a game since the 2013 season, to be their third quarterback and released Matt McGloin. The moves come a day after coach Bill O’Brien said they had discussed the possibility of adding Colin Kaepernick after a season-ending knee injury to rookie Deshaun Watson.
