Barrett to play after surgery
Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett had arthroscopic knee surgery Sunday, according to multiple reports, but coach
Urban Meyer said he will play in Saturday’s Big Ten championship game. The
Columbus Dispatch first reported that Barrett had the procedure, adding the decision was made to have surgery rather than treat the knee and risk further injury Saturday. Barrett left last week’s win against Michigan early because of the injury, explaining afterward that someone bumped into him before the game and aggravated a meniscus injury. He threw for 30 yards, ran for 67 and accounted for two touchdowns before his knee “locked up” in the third quarter. ❚ North Carolina State and Dave
Doeren have agreed on a five-year deal after the football coach had talked with Tennessee officials about the school’s opening, a person with knowledge of the situation told the Associated Press. Financial terms of the deal, which runs through the 2022 season, weren’t immediately available.
