Police in Ohio: Man charged with kidnapping after holding boy

A sheriff said an armed man in suburban Cincinnati used a 10-year-old boy as “a shield” during a hostage standoff of about 30 hours that ended peacefully Sunday morning.

Butler County authorities said the boy was taken to a hospital Sunday morning as a precaution, but no injuries were reported. The gunman, 31, surrendered and was jailed.
