DOLLAR TUMBLES AFTER U.S. TREASURY CHIEF COMMENTS
The Treasury chief welcomed a weaker dollar Wednesday, and his comments led to a sharp drop in the value of the dollar in currency markets. “Obviously a weaker dollar is good for us as it relates to trade and opportunities,” Steven Mnuchin said at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Mnuchin’s words could be a signal the Trump administration is prepared to try to talk down the dollar’s value to boost exports.
