Drake’s ‘God’s Plan’

- – Maeve McDermott

Drake isn’t nominated for any Grammy Awards at

Sunday’s ceremony, but the rapper still made his presence known this week. On

Jan. 19, he released his new

EP, Scary Hours, featuring the highlight God’s Plan, which revives the synths that boosted previous singles like Hotline Bling and

Fake Love. The track sees him returning to the creeping paranoia that characterized his 2016 release,

Views, reckoning with his enemies while further retreating into his inner circle and delivering at least one trademark Drake lyric: “She say, ‘Do you love me?’ I tell her, ‘Only partly’ / I only love my bed and my mama, I’m sorry.”
