UPS GAINS AS SHOPPERS SEEK FASTER DELIVERIES
Package and delivery giant UPS on Thursday reported a jump in fourthquarter revenue. The three-month period ending Dec. 31 saw UPS revenue climbing 11.2% to nearly $19 billion, the company said. Atlanta-based UPS said it earned $1.27 in diluted earnings per share during the quarter, up from a 27-cent loss during the same time the previous year. Demand to get packages delivered more quickly drove 4.9% growth in UPS’ next-day air service, the company said.
