Question: The Jan. 24 episode of The Goldbergs was a nice episode, but it was not The Goldbergs. (Was it) just a ploy to make another spinoff show?
Answer: Yes, although the creators probably wouldn’t call it a ploy. The episode was a pilot for a potential spinoff starring Tim Meadows as Mr. Glascott, and transferring the action to the 1990s, when he becomes the principal of the school. It’s a far cry from a usual
Goldbergs episode and an odd choice for a spinoff, but it might still become a series.
Q: Why were the 2018 Grammy Awards so boring? A: This year’s telecast was a bit of a letdown for me, too. The show garnered 19.8 million viewers, its lowest total since 2009 and down more than 6 million from last year. I think the show could have livened up with fewer ballads, fewer performances of 20year-old songs and maybe one less sketch from host James Corden, who sometimes overstays his welcome.
Q: Do you think Jane and Rafael will make it work on Jane the Virgin?
A: I think they will, eventually. They’ve been on again/off again throughout the show’s run, but I have long thought getting them together was the end game (especially after Michael was killed off). However, one of the big themes this season has been the differences between Jane and Rafael, and how they have to adjust their thinking when they communicate. This episode was a step forward, but I’m not sure they’re done growing as people, and the show doesn’t want to rush to the ending.
