Marvel’s soundtrack for Black Panther is nearly as big a blockbuster as the movie itself is expected to be. Curated by Kendrick Lamar and his TDE label, the track list is a who’s who of stars, including Travis Scott, Future, SZA, Anderson .Paak and 2 Chainz. One of Lamar’s many appearances on the album is Pray for
Me, with most of the track handed to the Weeknd’s darkly futuristic pop.
Pray for Me strikes an ominous note, foreshadowing the movie’s themes of survival as the Weeknd asks on the track’s chorus: “Who gon’ pray for me?/ Take my pain for me?/Save my soul for me?/
Cause I’m alone, you see.”
