UBER ACCUSED OF NOT DISCLOSING DATA HACK
Pennsylvania’s attorney general is suing Uber for allegedly breaking state law by not informing thousands of drivers that hackers stole their personal information. The lawsuit, filed in Philadelphia, states that hackers stole the names and driver’s license numbers of at least 13,500 Pennsylvania Uber drivers. Under state law, the ride-hailing company would have been required to inform drivers of the breach within a “reasonable time frame.” The lawsuit seeks civil penalties in the millions of dollars. Uber says it’s taken steps to be accountable. Washington state and Chicago have also sued Uber.
