Ratings for Sunday’s Oscar telecast dived 20% from 2017, hitting a record low of 26.5 million viewers, a statistic that did not escape the notice of President Trump. “Lowest-rated Oscars in HISTORY,” he tweeted Tuesday morning. “Problem is, we don’t have Stars anymore — except your President ( just kidding, of course)!” The previous record low of 32 million was set in 2008 after an 11-week Hollywood writers’ strike that crippled other awards shows.
