Manafort set to face trial in July on charges related to loans
A federal judge set a trial date of July 10 for former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort on charges of fraudulently obtaining millions of dollars in bank loans.
Manafort faces a separate trial in September in Washington related to his work for a proRussia political faction in Ukraine. He was ordered to submit to additional electronic monitoring as a condition of his release in Virginia.
“The only reason I’m limiting his freedom is his risk of flight,” U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis said during Manafort’s arraignment Thursday.
Manafort entered a not-guilty plea and was ordered to wear a second global positioning bracelet.
