Sade’s ‘Flower of the Universe’
Ava DuVernay scored a major coup by coaxing Sade from a seven-year break to contribute a new song, Flower of the Universe, to the Wrinkle in Time soundtrack, out Friday.
Led by Sade Adu’s inimitable vocals, the acoustic ballad is the seminal R&B group’s first release since 2011’s best-of album The Ultimate Collection.
DuVernay described the journey of winning over Adu in a tweet announcing the song’s release, calling her “a goddess.”
“I never thought she’d say yes, but asked anyway,” she wrote. “She was kind and giving. ... We began a journey together that I’ll never forget. And it’s a dream come true.”
