Alan Cumming stars in this new drama, which looks like a typical CBS crime procedural with a small twist: Cumming’s character is, according to CBS, the first openly gay lead on a network-TV drama. It’s a small step for representation that might be the most significant thing about the show, which tries to capture Castle- style charm but mostly falls flat. Cumming, however, is always a treat, and does his best to elevate the series.
