Russian voters give Putin another 6 years as president
Russian President Vladimir Putin — the country’s longest-serving leader since Joseph Stalin — scored a victory in Sunday’s election allowing him another six-year term.
Putin’s re-election was widely expected, and elections officials had pushed hard for a strong turnout to claim an indisputable mandate.
With ballots counted from 80% of the precincts, Putin won more than 76% of the vote, according to the Associated Press.
