Returning faces

The networks are losing many of the biggest stars to deeper-pocketed streaming and premium cable networks. But familiar faces may still make it into prime time.

Katie Holmes, who earned her big break on Dawson’s Creek, has been cast in an untitled Fox project about an FBI agent investigating a terrorist threat. Don Johnson ( Miami Vice) will star in potential Fox comedy Daddy Issues, about a woman whose playboy father is dating her best friend. Nathan Fillion ( Castle) will be back with ABC’s The Rookie, already picked up as a fall series, in which he plays a rookie alongside other new — and much younger — L.A. police officers. And Michael Chiklis ( The Shield) is headed to CBS as an NYPD detective on Murder.
