UNITED AIRLINES HALTS RESERVATIONS FOR PETS
United Airlines is suspending its transport of animals in the cargo compartments of planes after mistakes last week resulted in two dogs being put on the wrong planes, the carrier announced Tuesday. Passengers who already made arrangements by March 20 for their pets will be able to fly. But United won’t accept any more reservations for pets until a review of its pet travel program is completed, which is expected by May 1. The review doesn’t affect pets in the cabin. “We are conducting a thorough and systematic review of our program for pets that travel in the cargo compartment to make improvements that will ensure the best possible experience for our customers and their pets,” the airline said in a statement.
