Belle arrested on DUI charges

Former baseball All-Star Albert Belle was arrested in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Sunday and charged with two counts of indecent exposure and two counts of driving under the influence, according to Maricopa County jail records. According to a statement from police that was filed as part of court documents obtained by The Arizona Republic, he was arrested outside a Phoenix soccer stadium for allegedly urinating next to a parked car and shaking his genitals at the car’s owner and his 15year-old daughter. Belle was booked into jail Sunday and released, Maricopa County Sheriff ’s Office spokespers­on Joaquin Enriquez confirmed.

❚ The Mets plan to have outfielder Tim Tebow start the season with their Class AA affiliate Binghamton, according to the New York Post. Tebow hit .226 across two Class A levels in 2017. He was a regular for the Mets early in spring training this year and went 1-for-18 in seven games.

❚ Yankees first baseman Greg Bird will have surgery to remove a small broken spur in his right ankle, the team announced. He will start the season on the disabled list and is expected to rehab for six to eight weeks before returning to game action. Bird, 25, has been promising yet perplexing since he came up from the minors in 2015 and had 11 homers and 31 RBI in 46 games.
