❚ The Seattle Seahawks released quarterbac­k Trevone Boykin on Tuesday, minutes after a Dallas TV station’s report of a domestic violence incident that allegedly occurred last week. A woman described as Boykin’s girlfriend, Shabrika Bailey, told WFAA that an argument at Boykin’s home in Mansfield, Texas, became physical after she refused to unlock her phone. Bailey alleged that Boykin choked her and that she “woke up in a puddle of blood on the kitchen floor” after she blacked out. Boykin said the accuser’s allegation­s were “fabricated” and he “will be vindicated.” Bill Yale, a spokespers­on for the Mansfield police, told USA TODAY that the department is investigat­ing the alleged incident. While no charges have been filed, Boykin said in a statement he does “understand the Seahawks’ decision” to release him. “The story that was reported casts a bad light on the organizati­on and on me,” Boykin said in a statement to NFL Network. “I want to be clear that the story is false.”

❚ Louisville and Chris Mack have agreed to terms on a seven-year deal to make Mack the school’s new men’s basketball coach, sources with direct knowledge of the deal told The (Louisville) Courier-Journal on Tuesday.
