Ravens sign quarterback RG3
Robert Griffin III is going to get a third chance. The 2011 Heisman Trophy winner and 2012 No. 2 draft pick agreed to a one-year deal with the Ravens, the team announced Wednesday. RG3 steps into the backup role behind Joe Flacco, who is set to enter his 11th season. It could make for an interesting arrangement given Flacco’s game revolves around operating from the pocket, whereas Griffin’s greatest asset has always been the threat of his mobility. He earned offensive rookie of the year honors with Washington, but a knee injury late in the season proved a major setback for Griffin, who was never the same player. He last played 10 games for the Browns in 2016. — Nate Davis
Wildlife officials investigate Miller
Florida wildlife officials are investigating Broncos linebacker Von Miller over a hammerhead shark he caught during a recent fishing trip off the state’s coast. Miller would face up to 60 days in jail and a $500 fine, as determined by a judge, if he is convicted of an unlawful capture, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). The crime is a second-degree misdemeanor. The FWC began an investigation after People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) called the possible violation to its attention. Miller posed with the shark before he released it back into the ocean, according to The Denver Post. Prohibited species must be released immediately and unharmed, according to the commission website. The site also states that photographs or measuring of the species can be done, but only during the active act of release, and should not delay release in any way. TMZ was the first outlet to report the investigation. — A.J. Perez and Josh Peter
