What China buys from the United States

- Nathan Bomey

The possibility of a trade war could jeopardize sales of American goods exported to China.

China imported $115.6 billion of U.S. goods in 2017 and another $54.2 billion in U.S. services. Major companies ranging from aircraft maker Boeing to electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla to medical device companies and farmers could be at risk.

Barclays analyst Brian Johnson said in a note that Tesla “would bear the brunt of any increased auto tariff ” since it makes all of its cars in California.

General Motors, Ford and Fiat Chrysler each sell a small number of U.S.made cars in China every year, limiting the impact of Chinese tariffs on new vehicles.
