Virgin Galactic completes first powered flight of new spaceship

Virgin Galactic has conducted the first powered test flight of its new space tourism rocket.

Virgin Galactic tweeted that the spaceship was carried aloft and released over the Mojave Desert early Thursday. The company said the craft achieved supersonic speed before pilots glided it back to land.
