Trump signs human trafficking law that weakens online shield

President Trump signed a law Wednesday aimed at curbing sex trafficking, calling survivors who attended a signing ceremony “very brave.”

The law, which passed Congress overwhelmingly, weakens a legal shield for online services that host abusive content, including sex trafficking. The bill grew out of frustration that classified-ad sites could say they weren’t the publisher of the content but transmitted posts by others.
