Facebook is not going anywhere, for now

- LETTERS LETTERS@USATODAY.COM

You don’t want to delete Facebook? Here’s a reason why. A study examined the intensity of Facebook users and its association with self-esteem and life satisfaction. Findings suggested that excessive Facebook usage affected the users’ quality of life.

All users have some knowledge of the privacy they give up by sharing personal information online. But with this growing concern for privacy, we need to become more informed about how our in- formation’s being used and what we can do in the case of misuse.

Facebook should establish a specific board to govern privacy issues. The board should then send out notifications to all users of the data being kept on them, and users should be able to request that certain information be deleted so long as the user didn’t intend to publicly share the information. And if Facebook is found guilty of not complying, a fine will be imposed and the money will be used to support the board. Lindsey Sakahara
