‘Quiet, the Winter Harbor’ by Mazzy Star
Twenty-five years have passed since seminal dream pop duo Mazzy Star released their breakthrough album So Tonight That I Might See. Yet, listen to the band’s new song Quiet, The Winter Harbor, from their forthcoming EP Still (out June 1), and try to hear any discernible change in singer Hope Sandoval’s lethargic, lilting vocals. It’s difficult to find any trace of the passage of time on Quiet, which has the same sepia-toned wistfulness as Mazzy Star’s other very best songs.
