Farquhar critical but progressing
Pitcher suffered ruptured aneurysm
Pitcher Danny Farquhar, who suffered a brain aneurysm Friday night during a game against the Astros, “is progressing well following a successful surgery Saturday to address the aneurysm,” the White Sox said in a statement Monday.
The White Sox also said he has use of his extremities and is responding to questions and commands and is able to speak, though he remains in critical but stable condition at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
Farquhar, 31, will be closely monitored by neurosurgeons for at least a few weeks. He was placed on the 60-day disabled list by the White Sox on Monday.
Farquhar has pitched for the White Sox, Mariners and Rays in a 10-year professional career.
