Will the world negotiate with the U.S. now?

-

President Trump’s latest axe-wielding maneuver — dumping the Iran nuclear deal — is not a surprise. It’s consistent with his prior antics, like axing President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.

My initial concern with dumping the Iran agreement, regardless of its flaws, is any future trust from the rest of the planet negotiating on anything with the U.S. One president makes a commitment and his successor can swiftly drop it. Why would any nation negotiate with us when any agreement could have a short shelf life come the next president?

I’m afraid our stature in the world will collapse.
