You can finally bet on sports ... legally!

New Jersey won a landmark ruling from the Supreme Court on Monday that could lead many states to legalize betting on college and profession­al sports.

The real winners out of this decision are those who run the betting. They will make millions. Those who can’t control their betting will lose everything.

The local bookie is still going to be there. People don’t want to pay taxes on winnings. The guy who just wants to put $20 down on a Sunday night game won’t want to affect his business one way or another. Greg Allen I take no issue with this decision by the Supreme Court, especially regarding profession­al sports. We allow gambling on slot machines, why not in sports?

However, the collegiate side I take issue with. Organizati­ons already make a killing on the free labor of collegiate athletes, so I’m not sure I would support a system making more off them while still giving them zero share in the profits they help create. Matthew Farmer

If only the courts could require “personal responsibi­lity” as easily as it allows recreation­al drugs, drinking and gambling. Jim Davis
