Songwriter­s urge Congress to pass copyright changes

Smokey Robinson and songwriter Josh Kear urged Congress to pass the first major music copyright reform law in decades. They testified many songwriter­s are struggling financiall­y because they are not being adequately paid for use of their songs. “People don’t buy music anymore. They stream it,” Kear told the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday.
