Lawsuit challenges Iowa’s new abortion law
Three groups say they are are suing to put on hold an Iowa law that would give the state the most restrictive abortion laws in the country when it takes effect July 1. The law bans nearly all abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected.
Planned Parenthood of the Heartland, the American Civil Liberties Union of Iowa and the Emma Goldman Clinic in Iowa City filed the lawsuit Tuesday in Polk County District Court, they said in a news release.
