SONY BUYS BIGGER STAKE IN EMI MUSIC FOR $2 BILLION

Sony Corp. is buying an additional 60% of EMI Music Publishing for $2.3 billion, taking on the Motown catalog and musicians including Kanye West and Pharrell Williams. When the deal is closed, Sony will own 90% of EMI Music. It said the deal was part of a push for content also behind its recent deal to buy a stake in Peanuts Holdings.
