Tips for YouTube parents
Set boundaries
❚ Know what’s safe to share: Before even creating a channel or uploading a video, set boundaries on what’s appropriate to share.
Determine your role
❚ Act as your kid’s editor, if necessary: Depending on how old your kids are, you may be cool with a hands-off approach. But you may also want to review what they shoot.
Set realistic expectations
❚ Beware of comments, or lack thereof. It’s good to let kids know that starting a channel is a big step.
Go the old-fashioned route
❚ If you have strong concerns about letting your kids have a YouTube presence, that doesn’t mean they still can’t create home videos offline.
