Judge who gave lenient sentence in sex assault case recalled

- From staff and wire reports

The California judge who gave a six-

month sentence to Brock Turner, a former Stanford University swimmer convicted of sexual assault, was recalled from office Wednesday.

Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Aaron Persky, 56, became the target of a recall after sentencing Turner.

It was the sentence probation officials recommended, but those seeking Persky’s recall said it was one of many sentences he handed down that were too light.
