Good riddance to lenient judges
Judge Aaron Persky, who sparked outrage after handing down a lenient sentence of six months in prison to Brock Turner (the former Stanford University swimmer convicted of sexual assault), was recalled from office Wednesday.
That judge gave that kid a slap on the wrist for sexually assaulting a woman. How does he justify a six-month sentence? Persky deserved to be recalled. Maybe this will send a message to other judges out there about how they sentence offenders. Scott Garb
If I were a judge and given a similar case, I probably would have given the accused a stiffer sentence. But I also feel this idea of recalling a judge because some disagree with a decision he made is a very bad precedent.
Carl Allenburg
The misinformation campaign by the recall proponents seemed to have too many voters who vote their hearts in- stead of their minds. This outcome is simply mob mentality and will ultimately harm the justice system.

Let this serve as a warning to other judges who want to let rapists slide: The public will hold you accountable! Zheng Chen
Holding a judge accountable for his decisions? What a concept! This needs to apply to the Supreme Court, as well. Richard Fink
I signed the petition to have Persky recalled. He does not deserve the power that his position allows.
Glenda Jones
The recall would not have occurred if Turner’s punishment had been commensurate with the crime, and if Persky wasn’t so concerned about Turner’s future and more concerned about the victim’s future. Gail Lynne
