Scottoline and Serritella chat about ‘Rosé-Colored Glasses’

- Jocelyn McClurg

On Tuesday, join USA TODAY for a Facebook Live chat with mother-daughter writing team Lisa Scottoline and Francesca Serritella about their new book, “I See Life Through Rosé-Colored Glasses.” #BookmarkThis is a series of live video chats with best-selling authors, and fans can submit questions during the chat and in advance.

This is Scottoline and Serritella’s eighth collection of humorous “true stories and confessions” about life and their relationship. As Scottoline writes, “We take real life and make it funny.”

Scottoline is also the author of many best-selling thrillers, including April’s “After Anna” (which reached No. 4 on USA TODAY’s Best-Selling Books list) and “Feared: A Rosato & DiNunzio Novel,” coming in August.

Scottoline, 63, and Serritella, 32, bring a light touch to their alternating short essays, which in “Rosé-Colored Glasses” (St. Martin’s Press, on sale July 10) take on everything from online dating to dog grooming (they’re dog lovers) to the indignities of old age (such as when Scottoline gets an unsolicited home colonoscopy kit in the mail).

Mostly they have fun writing about their close relationship (Francesca is an only child), such as the challenges of communicating via FaceTime with your technologically challenged parent. “FaceTime is supposed to be easy,” Serritella writes. “People do it with babies. Have you ever tried it with an adult mother?”

Their previous collaborations include “Does This Beach Make Me Look Fat?” “Meet Me at Emotional Baggage Claim” and “Best Friends, Occasional Enemies.”
