Anthony to sign with Houston
Veteran forward Carmelo Anthony is expected to sign with the Houston Rockets, a person with knowledge of his situation told USA TODAY. The person requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly until Anthony makes his commitment official. A couple of small, procedural hurdles remain before Anthony can sign. The trade that will send Anthony from Oklahoma City to Atlanta has been agreed upon but not completed. Once that trade is finalized, Anthony must then clear waivers, which will happen. Anthony, 34, is good friends with Rockets point guard Chris Paul, and his interest in heading to Houston doesn’t come as a surprise. Anthony is coming off the worst season of his career, as his
16.2 points per game marked the first time he averaged less than 20 points per contest.
❚ Tony Parker signed a free agent contract with Charlotte, according to an announcement from the team. Terms of the deal where not announced. The 6-2 Parker spent the past 17 seasons in San Antonio, appearing in 55 games this past season.
