SCHNATTER DENIES RACIAL SLUR DESPITE VIDEO CLIP
The founder of Papa John’s testified Monday that he did not criticize protesting NFL players during an investor call last year, and he never directed a racial slur at anyone last spring. “But the press, in short order, turned me into a racist,” John Schnatter, founder and former chairman of Papa John’s, said in a Delaware courtroom. Still, during cross-examination, attorneys representing the company played a four-second video clip of a deposition in which Schnatter used the n-word “in reference to Kanye West.” A Forbes report saying that Schnatter used the racial slur during a conference call led to Schnatter resigning as chairman.
