Four undecided senators to decide Supreme Court nominee’s future

Republican­s, who hold a 51-49 majority in the Senate, do not need support from Democrats to approve Brett Kavanaugh. But Senate Republican­s cannot lose more than one vote from their party, meaning Kavanaugh’s fate rests with a handful of undecided senators.

If the Senate deadlocks 50 to 50, Vice President Mike Pence would cast the deciding vote, in favor of Kavanaugh.
