Sagging power lines blamed in fatal 2017 California wildfire
Two sagging Pacific Gas & Electric power lines made contact, sparked and ignited a wildfire in Northern California last year that killed four people and injured a firefighter, according to a report Tuesday by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
PG&E equipment was blamed for starting 13 wildfires last year
The utility told shareholders it expects to pay more than $2.5 billion in damages.
The fire that started in Yuba County, near Sacramento, scorched 15 square miles and destroyed 264 structures.
