Get ready for the next two years

- LETTERS LETTERS@USATODAY.COM

A win is a win, as close as it was, fair and square. I am not so happy for Florida, both for the choice of governor and senator. But in a democracy, we have to accept our losses and enjoy the wins. Being part of the process is what really counts.

Winning back the House was as good as it could get, without being greedy or a sore loser. Having, finally, a check on President Donald Trump gives me a sense of security and takes the edge off. Those seats have been filled with empty suits, and now, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi looks mighty good. She gives Democrats her all and right now we need all that we can get! Knowledge and experience is needed along with so many new faces ready to learn the ropes and start getting things done. Linda Gefen Boca Raton, Fla.

Get ready for two years of investigations and attacks on the White House. The House will get nothing done for the American people, which will probably lead to the re-election of President Donald Trump.

The blue wave was tempered by a red tide of voters who care about the economy and who can see the positive results of Republican leadership. Voters’ unwillingness to believe Barack Obama’s claims that he is responsible for the economic gains of the past two years shows that Americans are no longer persuaded by the left’s empty rhetoric. Telling voters that their health care and Social Security are threatened by Republicans has lost its effectiveness.

Americans do not want higher taxes, socialism or unprotected borders. And we are tired of identity politics and the incivility of the left. In spite of Trump’s tweets and abrasive manner, he delivers what he promises. Voters want results more than political correctness. Until the left understands this and does more than bashing and obstructing, they will remain out of touch with Americans. Charles M. Sitero Ormond Beach, Fa.
