Mueller’s hearing proved that Trump is a threat to our Democracy

Testifying before the House Judicial and Intelligence committees Wednesday, former special counsel Robert Mueller spoke on Russian interference in the 2016 election.
Mueller’s testimony should remove any doubt that our constitutional democracy, with President Donald Trump leading the charge, is under siege. In a democracy, the head of government never dismisses an attack, cyber or otherwise, that strikes its heart, the electoral system. Trump is the exception. The Mueller investigation proved that.
The threat to our freedoms extends beyond Mueller’s findings. When Trump calls for the incarceration of political enemies or suppression of a free and unfettered press, he is taking a page straight out of an autocrat’s playbook.
When Republican leadership, in defiance of constitutional norms, endorses his actions, liberty is imperiled, and democracy goes by the wayside. Jim Paladino

While I don’t agree that the Russia probe was a witch hunt and a hoax, I do believe it was “one of the worst performances in the history of our country,” as Trump told reporters after the hearing.
In fact, it was difficult to watch Mueller. The poor man looked tortured. Trump is right, it’s a disaster for Democrats. It looks like it’s back to square one for Democrats. They should stop multitasking and focus solely on elections. JoAnn Lee Frank
