Seattle suspects are ‘dangerous’
Shooting was third in the area in two days
Two men considered “armed and dangerous” are suspects in a shooting that left one dead and seven injured after a dispute in front of a McDonald’s in downtown Seattle on Wednesday night, the third shooting in the area in two days, police said.
Police identified Marquise Latrelle Tolbert, 24, and William Ray Tolliver, 24 as “suspects” but no charges had been filed as of Thursday afternoon.
“Both men are considered armed and dangerous. Call 911 if you see them or know where they are,” police said in a statement Thursday.
Seattle Fire Chief Harold Scoggins said authorities received calls around 5 p.m. Wednesday about multiple gunshot victims.
A woman was found dead in a heavily trafficked area, and others were injured, fire department spokesman David Cuerpo said.
“We responded immediately, and we discovered victims at the scene in about a one-block radius,” Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best said. “Officers immediately started lifesaving measures.”
Some of the people injured may have fired shots, Best said. Investigators reviewed footage and collected evidence to determine who might have left the scene.
Fire officials took five injured people to Harborview Medical Center, Scoggins said, and two additional injured people went to the hospital on their own.
Of the seven hospitalized, four were discharged, the hospital said on Twitter.
A 55-year-old woman was upgraded to serious condition Thursday, and a 32-year-old man and a 9-year-old boy were in satisfactory condition.
The Downtown Seattle Association, a business group, called on public officials to put an end to the crime in the city’s downtown.
“Criminal activity around Third and Pine has been persistent for far too long and too often has led to violence and innocent lives lost,” the statement said.” On behalf of residents, small business owners, employers and visitors, we say enough is enough.”
