Year in which Rory McIlroy says “the majority of players” would like to see the Ryder Cup held instead of this coming fall. In an interview with BBC Sport, the world No. 1 said: “My personal hunch is that I don’t see how it is going to happen, so I do not think that it will happen . ... I think the majority of players would like to see it pushed back until 2021 so that they can play in front of crowds and have the atmosphere that makes the Ryder Cup so special.” Wisconsin’s Whistling Straits is scheduled to host the 2020 Ryder Cup Sept. 25-27, but amid the coronaviru­s pandemic the event would most likely take place without fans (if held at all).

The normal deadline for when television networks confirm start times for early season college football games. But that deadline is going to be pushed indefinite­ly according a joint statement from the Bowl Subdivisio­n conference­s and networks that show the games.

June 21

Date for the ESPY’s which are going to look different. Red carpets and glamorous dresses will be traded in for webcams and high-speed internet during the two-hour broadcast hosted by Seahawks quarterbac­k Russell Wilson, Seattle Storm guard Sue Bird and U.S. women’s soccer star Megan Rapinoe. The event is usually held during the baseball All-Star break.

8. The Big 12, where the Sooners play, chose June

15. The Big Ten decided to let individual schools decide. Ohio State announced its athletes would be allowed back June 8. Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley has said it was “ridiculous” for football programs to consider starting voluntary workouts June 1.

When World TeamTennis has chosen to begin its three-week season, marking the return of pro tennis in the U.S. as the ATP and WTA Tours remain in limbo. The Greenbrier resort in West Virginia is hosting.
