Con­tract ex­ten­sion for the Browns’ Myles Gar­rett, mak­ing him the NFL’s best-com­pen­sated de­fen­sive player. The 24-year-old pass rusher was close to sign­ing a five-year, $125 mil­lion ex­ten­sion Tues­day that will tie him to the fran­chise through the 2026 sea­son, a per­son fa­mil­iar with ne­go­ti­a­tions con­firmed to USA TODAY Sports’ Nate Ul­rich. The per­son re­quested anonymity be­cause the deal had not been fi­nal­ized.


Like­li­hood that fe­male U.S. Ser­vice Academy cadets will ex­pe­ri­ence a lower-ex­trem­ity stress frac­ture com­pared with 0.84% of males in their first year of ser­vice, ac­cord­ing to re­search that ties sports spe­cial­iza­tion to the in­juries. The study will be pub­lished in the Jour­nal of Ath­letic Train­ing, the sci­en­tific jour­nal of the Na­tional Ath­letic Train­ers’ As­so­ci­a­tion. “Un­der­stand­ing how prior level of sport spe­cial­iza­tion is as­so­ci­ated with the risk of these in­juries dur­ing mil­i­tary train­ing can pro­vide in­sight into op­por­tu­ni­ties for in­jury preven­tion and risk mit­i­ga­tion,” said Ken­neth Cameron of Keller Army Hospi­tal at West Point.
