Super 25 high school football preseason rankings revealed

See which powerhouse from Texas, California or Florida tops the USA TODAY rankings.

1. IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) – Roster already loaded with Division I talent adds Michigan commit J.J. McCarthy at quarterbac­k.

2. Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) – Perennial national power has won state title two of past three years.

3. Duncanvill­e (Texas) – After two title-game losses in a row, Panthers look ready to clear final hurdle.

4. St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) – Last year’s mythical national champions, Braves went 13-0 playing one of nation’s toughest schedules.

5. St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) – Reigning Class 7A state champs, Raiders are always South Florida powerhouse.

6. St. Frances Academy (Baltimore) – Winners of 34 of last 35 games, Panthers have roster loaded with Power Five talent.

7. North Shore (Houston) – Two-time 6A DI champs primed to defend title, led by All-USA quarterbac­k and Auburn commit Dematrius Davis.

8. Chandler (Ariz.) – Wolves have won four state titles and 26 games in a row.

9. St. Joseph’s Prep (Philadelph­ia) – Hawks have won two straight state titles and are led by sons of NFL stars with Marvin Harrison Jr. and Jeremiah Trotter Jr.

10. Grayson (Loganville, Ga.) – Rams finished last season 11-2 and will be among favorites in state’s largest classifica­tion.

11. Austin Westlake (Texas) – Defending 6A DII champs loaded on both sides of ball.

12. Miami Central – Defending Class 6A state champs, Rockets won state title for sixth time this decade.

13. St. John’s (Washington, D.C.) – Cadets lost five games last season – all to teams on this list. They’ve won three straight Washington Catholic Athletic Conference regular-season titles.

14. Lowndes (Valdosta, Ga.) – Vikings lost to Marietta in 7A state title game.

15. Katy (Texas) – Defense, running game always key for perennial powerhouse, which has won at least 10 games every year since 2004.

16. De Smet Jesuit (St. Louis) – Spartans finished last season undefeated and won first state title since 2005.

17. Edgewater (Orlando, Fla.) – Eagles went 13-2 last season and lost to St. Thomas Aquinas in Class 7A state title game.

18. Centennial (Corona, Calif.) – Huskies are led by nation’s top-ranked player DE Korey Foreman.

19. Shadow Creek (Pearland, Texas) – After one loss in school’s first two years, Sharks moving into higher classifica­tion.

20. Trinity (Louisville, Ky.) – Fresh off 26th state championsh­ip, Shamrocks won their final eight games of 2019 by an average of 41 points.

21. Our Lady of Good Counsel (Olney, Md.) – Falcons won Washington Catholic Athletic Conference for first time since 2012 and are 80-5 over past eight seasons.

22. Dutch Fork (Irmo, S.C.) – Silver Foxes have dominated South Carolina, winning four straight 5A titles, going 551-1 during that stretch.

23. Corner Canyon (Draper, Utah) – Back-to-back state champions, Chargers bring 26-game winning streak into 2020.

24. Thompson (Alabaster, Ala.) – Warriors are state’s No. 1-ranked team and reigning 7A state champions.

25. Center Grove (Greenwood, Ind.) – Reached Class 6A state title game last year, returns standout linemen Austin Booker and Caden Curry on defense and junior quarterbac­k Tayven Jackson and running back Carson Steele on offense.
