Live shows will return to Vegas Strip on Nov. 6
LAS VEGAS – MGM Resorts will soon bring back several top entertainment acts to The Strip – including David Copperfield, Carrot Top and Jabbawockeez.
The shows are set to return Nov. 6, and tickets are already available on Ticketmaster.
“After eight months, it’s time to bring entertainment back to the Entertainment Capital of the World,” said George Kliavkoff, MGM Resorts’ president of entertainment and sports, in a statement. “While there is still a long road in our city’s recovery, the reintroduction of these shows is an important first step.”
Here are the productions coming back after a COVID-19 shutdown that lasted eight months and put thousands out of work:
h David Copperfield at MGM Grand
h Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club at MGM Grand
h Jabbawockeez at MGM Grand
h Carrot Top at Luxor
h Fantasy at Luxor
h Thunder from Down Under at Excalibur
h Australian Bee Gees at Excalibur
MGM Resorts officials were not immediately available for comment.
The return of shows to MGM Resorts properties follows news that popular tent show Absinthe at Caesars Palace will return to The Strip on Oct. 28.
Tickets for performances Wednesday through Sunday at 7 and 9:30 p.m. are on sale for the show “inspired by the absinthe-drenched cabarets of late 19th century Europe.” They are $149 and available online.
Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak last month issued an order loosening the state’s 50-person cap on large gatherings and relaxing a host of other business restrictions imposed during the coronavirus pandemic.
Get-togethers of up to 250 people – as well as many live entertainment events, trade shows, concerts and conventions – are now allowed to resume, clearing the way for shows to run once again.
But they will look different amid new rules:
Get-togethers at larger venues will be subject to the same capacity rules – 250 people or 50% capacity – except in places with “multiple distinct rooms, arenas, areas or buildings” that are physically separated.
Owners of such facilities may host gatherings of up to 250 people per-room, so long as they maintain separate entrances and exits and/or stagger entrance and exit times to avoid congestion.
Each designated area must minimize the use of shared facilities, such as restrooms
Event staff and hosts do not count toward gathering capacity limits.
At least 25 feet should be maintained between the stage and the crowd.
Performers have to wear a mask unless they are singing or playing a woodwind or brass instrument.
Intermission should be extended so people don’t congregate while getting snacks and beverages.
