⬤ Max Homa. A Southern California native, he is making his eighth start in the event and has four consecutiv­e top-10s, including a win in 2021 and a runner-up finish last year.

⬤ Ludvig Aberg. The Swede has shown no signs of a sophomore slump, finishing second in his last start at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Despite having turned pro less than a year ago, he could move to No. 5 in the world with a victory this weekend.

Tee times

Golf Channel coverage on Thursday (4-8 p.m. ET) will highlight the featured grouping of world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler with Matt Fitzpatric­k and Collin Morikawa (2:42) and Wyndham Clark, Rory McIlroy and Max Homa (2:54).

On Friday, Jordan Spieth, Patrick Cantlay and Tom Kim (2:42 ET) will get the star treatment at Riviera along with the grouping of tournament host Tiger Woods, Justin Thomas and Gary Woodland (2:54).

FedExCup

Nick Taylor earned 500 points for winning the WM Phoenix Open and shot up 51 places in the seasonlong points race. The FedExCup consists of 38 events, culminatin­g with three in the playoffs. Viktor Hovland is the defending champ.
