Thoughts:

It was the final day of competition for the JV. Thanks to Paul Kolesar, the Davies coach, for organizing this tournament for the JV. It is a great tournament and is appreciated by coaches, players, and parents.

Noah and Jared have improved so much this year. They took 3 games against older and more experienced kids. They were done by the time I got to Fargo South so I wasn’t able to watch them. I’m sorry fellas. :(

Jacob and Matthew played some excellent points in doubles. Matthew works hard at every point while Jacob puts away balls at the net when his opponent hits it to him.

Jayden and Colin were overmatched at #1 doubles, but they didn’t play intimidated. They stepped into their shots and tried to hit their volleys away from their opponents. Nice job gentlemen.

Kellen at #4 singles was a fighter. He lost a tight match in the first round and came back to win two tight matches on the consolation side to make the 5th place match. Kellen has the competitive spirit and is learning on the court. If we add in some more form on his strokes, watch out!

Gavin played two good matches today. He hits solid and always gives it his all. He asks questions and tries to get better. Nice job Gavin.

Singles isn’t Miles’s favorite, but we will need him in the future as a singles player. This tournament was good experience and hopefully a driving factor to continue to play next summer to keep improving.

Alex and Emmett both found success at #1 singles coming away with five wins between the two. Alex made it to the 3rd place match and Emmett to the 5th. Emmett played 5 matches after coming back from an injury at the start of the season that limited his play - great way to fight through it. Alex enacted a game plan against Santiago that worked. He kept hitting it low to the backhand side which lead to Santiago hitting it out or giving Alex a put-a–way. Excellent work Alex.

The JV their season. completed

Varsity Regional Tournament - Fargo

Fall is officially here and that means coldweather tennis is upon us. I had on a long sleeve, a sweatshirt, an a windbreaker with the stocking cap and gloves. The regional tourney had lows in the 30s and highs in the 50s. The thermals might be coming out later this week…

#7 VC 5 #10 West Fargo 0

Singles:

1. Blake Triebold defeated Preston Elhard 6-1, 6- 0

2. Seth Zeltinger defeated Mansib Rahman 6-1, 6- 0

3. Casey Kruger defeated Matthew Mondry 6-1, 6-1

Doubles:

1. Kai Kringlie/ Derek Bear defeated Sam Ruona/John Sikorski 6-3, 6-

2. Ethan Bear/ Max Magnuson defeated John Johnson/Jadon Chase 6-1, 6-1

Thoughts:

Today was6 a good day for us. It was a cold, windy day. We needed to figure out how to play the wind, keep our minds straight, and finish our strokes. We all played within ourselves and played to win. Blake, Seth, and Casey executed their game plans and played each point to win. Nice work.

Ethan and Max played the smart shot and hit solid attacking strokes. They put their volleys away as well. We are working on positioning and they are improving. Today’s win marks the first varsity dual victory for both Ethan and Max. Awesome job fellas!

Derek and Kai played together for the first time today. They are playing together in the 3EDC doubles tournament on Friday and Saturday. They worked on their communication and positioning together. This was a good match to warm-up with before 24 this weekend.

Next action for Varsity is the quarterfinals of the EDC tournament at Grand Forks Red River. They began the tournament on Tuesday after winning the playin match against West Fargo 5- 0.

I LOVE being a HiLiner!

Coach Nielson
