NDWS Hosting North Star Classic, Dec. 4- 6
North Dakota has a multitude of things that make it special, but the one at the center of it all is agriculture. Crop and livestock production create the fiber of North Dakota’s statewide community, and Valley City gets to be a big part of that as host to the largest cattle show in the state.
Though so many things have changed this year, the North Star Classic tradition is continuing.
The North Dakota Winter Show Event Center is hosting the 21st Annual North Star Classic December 4- 6.
The event will include the popular Cattlemen’s Ball & Sale on Friday at 5 p.m., which features a prime rib supper, raffle drawings totaling
$6,250, elite cattle & trip/merchandise auction lots, cash bar, door prizes and a branding party (get tickets by calling the NDWS Office at 701-845-1401).
On Saturday, Country Christmas will return to the North Star Classic, where vendors will host holiday shopping for the home, barn, shop and under the tree. There will also be an opportunity to win a NDWS gift basket in a special drawing.
This year’s Livestock Honoree Billy Hoffmann will be recognized on Friday during the selection of the Supreme Heifer & Bull and later at the Cattlemen’s Ball & Sale. Hoffmann, of Wheatland, ND, has supported and participated in the North Dakota Winter Show and North Star Classic for many years.
The 2020 NSC features the classic events that every year’s event is known for: multiple breed sales, fitting clinic, junior show, commercial ag vendors and more.
NDWS Manager Tesa Klein and 2020 North Star Classic Manager Kelcey Hoffmann are looking forward to this weekend’s event and continuing with tradition.
“We have built a plan to host a safe & successful event for the community and the cattle industry alike,” Klein says. “I can’t wait to fill the barn with cattle again!”
