Santa Visits Exclusively With Times-Record Editor
This year Santa’s appearances have been limited in Valley City, and though he’s extremely busy at this time, Santa Claus has taken the time to chat with the Valley City Times-Record via the elfnet. We started by asking if he heard good things from our Elf friend, Clementine.
Santa: Indeed! She has just returned to the North Pole from Valley City, and she’s shared that she was most pleased with the neat businesses and people she’s had a chance to see. She and I want to thank the Valley City businesses who opened their doors to Clementine––they were most fantastic!
T-R: That’s good to hear! We’re curious, what’s your favorite part about the holiday season?
Santa: Oh there are so many reasons this time of year is my favorite. Though it is busy, Mrs. Claus and I get to read letters from children all over the world, listen to wonderful music, and give each family a lovely Christmas. I also love getting to see the beautiful Christmas lights and decorations when I am out in my sleigh on Christmas Eve, and I very much appreciate the cookies and milk (and carrots, which the reindeer enjoy very much!). Christmas is such a wonderful time, full of joy, kindness, and cheer––plus magic. I love it all.
T-R: How do you get to each house on Christmas Eve and deliver gifts in one night?!
Santa: Oh, I cannot tell you every secret of mine! Believing is what keeps the Christmas spirit alive. I’ll tell you something, though: it all has very much to do with the Christmas magic and the children believing in me. Christmas spirit and holiday cheer make it possible for me to do everything I do. I will keep some secrets to myself, but all who believe in me are the ones who make Christmas the most magical time of year!
T-R: We here know you are extremely busy, Santa, so we won’t keep you for much longer. Is there anything else you could share with us?
Santa: I have the very best job in the world, yes I do. My elves are dear friends of mine, and I love my reindeer too. I love helping the world have a beautiful Christmas and sharing the magic of the holidays with everyone I see. Mostly, though, I love the holiday cheer that you share with me and others.
The people in Valley City have been very good and kind this year, and I am always excited for my stop there on Christmas night. Your weather is a lot like what we have here in the North Pole, so I always feel right at home when I visit!
